Challenge

(01)

Create a recurring illustration series that brings distant coffee, tea and cacao regions closer to the reader.

For KoffieTcacao magazine, I created a series of illustrations connected to different coffee, tea and cacao regions. The challenge was to make each piece feel rooted in a specific place, while still working clearly within the magazine. These illustrations needed to do more than decorate an article. They had to help the reader feel some connection to the landscapes, crops and atmosphere behind the product.

Translation

(02)

Each image was built as a small visual journey, using landscape, flora and local atmosphere to connect the final drink to its origin.

Rather than focusing only on the product itself, I approached each illustration as a way to travel visually to the beginning of the chain. I looked at the character of each region, the surrounding flora and fauna, and the overall feeling of place. That allowed the illustrations to carry more than information alone. They became a way to connect product, landscape and story in one image, while still staying graphic, clear and suited to editorial use.

Outcome

(03)

The series gives the magazine a more visual and memorable way to talk about origin, turning information into atmosphere.

By approaching each region as its own visual world, the illustrations help readers feel closer to the beginning of the story behind coffee, tea and cacao. They add character and recognition to the editorial content, while making the subject more accessible and engaging. This project reflects an important part of my practice: using illustration not only to explain, but to create connection.
