Challenge
(01)
How do you show where coffee begins, without making it literal or distant?
The magazine shares stories about coffee growing regions, but those places are often hard to visualise in a way that feels close and engaging. The challenge was to move beyond showing coffee as a finished product, and instead find a visual language that brings readers closer to the landscapes, atmosphere and character behind it.

Translation
(02)
Translating editorial stories into a sense of place
Each illustration was built around evoking a region rather than describing it. By combining landscape elements, flora and small visual cues, the images create a sense of place that supports the story without becoming literal. The focus was on clarity, warmth and recognisability, so readers could intuitively connect the image to the origin of the coffee.

/
Outcome
(03)
Stronger connection between reader, story and product
The illustration series adds a consistent visual language to the magazine’s stories about origin. It makes the beginning of the coffee journey more tangible and engaging, helping readers connect more deeply to what they are reading and drinking.
